The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) continues to alert citizens affected by the low pressure area (LPA) to stay vigilant for possible flooding and landslides that may occur due to moderate rains and thunderstorms.

“Nais po naming ipaalala sa ating mga kababayan na apektado ng masamang panahon na manatiling alerto at kaagad i-report ang kanilang sitwasyon sa lokal na pamahalaan o sa mga DSWD- Field Offices sa kanilang lugar upang maagap na matugunan ang kanilang mga pangangailangan (We encourage the citizens affected by the LPA to be alert and to report their current situation to their local government units (LGUs) or DSWD- Field Offices in their respective areas so we can immediately respond to their needs),” said DSWD Secretary Judy M. Taguiwalo.

Based on the initial report of the DSWD Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center (DROMIC), the Southwest Monsoon has caused flooding in Pontevedra and San Enrique, Negros Occidental and has affected a total of 1,985 families or 9,925 persons. Of which, 43 families or 215 persons are staying in evacuation centers set up by LGUs while 1,942 families or 9,710 persons are outside evacuation centers.

The DSWD FO-Negros Island Region (NIR), in coordination with concerned LGUs, has already provided 1,985 family food packs (FFPs) to the affected residents and is continuously monitoring the situation for additional augmentation support.

In the National Capital Region (NCR),  no flooding incident affecting residential areas has been reported  and no LGU has set up any evacuation center.

Meanwhile, all DSWD disaster teams and field offices are coordinating with LGUs for possible deployment and additional assistance.  ###
