The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) continues to respond to families affected by the onslaught of the heavy monsoon rains intensified by the low pressure area (LPA).

In the latest bulletin of the DSWD Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center (DROMIC), 11,963 families or 55,737 persons are displaced, of which 7,545 families or 36,422 persons are still inside 79 evacuation centers in Regions III, CALABARZON and the National Capital Region (NCR), while 3,885 families or 16,483 persons are outside evacuation centers.

The DSWD FO-NCR has already provided a total of P119,198.35 worth of assistance to affected families in their area. In addition, 10,000 pieces of brown rice bars were delivered to the Reception and Study Center for Children (RSCC) warehouse in Quezon City for distribution.

“The Central Office has yet to receive data on the total aid given to affected families in the other regions, but rest assured that field offices are continuing to provide assistance and coordinate with local government units for additional augmentation support,” said DSWD Secretary Judy M. Taguiwalo.

Sec. Taguiwalo also reminds residents in Metro Manila, Central Luzon, CALABARZON and MIMAROPA to stay vigilant for possible effect of flooding and landslides due to incessant heavy rains. #
