According to a news report early this September, the minors were among the 72 individuals apprehended by the Philippine National Police (PNP) during the drug raid.
The minors tested positive for drug use and were immediately turned over by the Women and Children’s Protection Desk to the youth center after taking their sworn affidavits.
The DSWD-National Capital Region (NCR) is continuously coordinating with the Social Services Development Department (SSDD) of the Quezon City for the monitoring of the minors.
A social worker from DSWD-NCR is set to conduct a center visit to the Molave Youth Center to determine the present status of the minors, and to assess further actions to be taken to help them.
DSWD Secretary Judy M. Taguiwalo said that DSWD in partnership with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) will embark on a national drug rehabilitation program that will help drug surrenderees.
“Kasalukuyang ginagawa ng DSWD ang pag-aaral para sa pagsagawa ng mas komprehensibong programa para sa rehabilitasyon ng mga nasadlak sa drogra bilang parte ng ating pinangakong may malasakit na serbisyo para sa nangangailangan (DSWD is currently reviewing and studying ways to come up with a more comprehensive program for the rehabilitation of those involved in drug use as part of the Department’s compassionate service for the needy),” Secretary Taguiwalo ended. # # #
