On November 2016, viral photos showing plates and mugs with logo of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) sold in certain malls of Regions II and XI were circulating the social media. The DSWD urges the public not to patronize these products that are illegally sold and to immediately report to the Department.

An investigation was spearheaded by DSWD-Field Offices II and XI. Reports confirmed that the said utensils belong to an accredited supplier. These were production excess on utensils intended for the use of children-beneficiaries of the Supplementary Feeding Program. To date, these items were already retrieved from the malls.

The DSWD is strongly denouncing this illegal act and stressing that selling of any government’s property is punishable by law.
