DSWD inaugurates new and improved centers, facilities for vulnerable sectors
Featured, News August 30, 2019, 0 Comment 0In an effort to provide better welfare services to vulnerable sectors, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has improved its centers and residential care facilities (CRCF) and will establish new ones under the CRCF Infrastructure Project.
DSWD’s CRCF Infrastructure Project aims to give better care and welfare services to marginalized and disadvantaged individuals, groups, and families through the construction, rehabilitation, and improvement of the Department’s centers and residential care facilities.
The project, with P2.3 billion fund allocation, covers 210 infrastructure projects in DSWD’s 71 centers and facilities, and four new centers. The new facilities feature centers for children with special needs and street children.
The Department conducted a virtual and actual inauguration of the completed projects on August 28, 2019 as part of the CRCF Project Workshop which runs from August 27 to 31 in Cagayan de Oro City.
The virtual inauguration provides a venue to showcase the major accomplishments of the CRCF project via completed construction projects nationwide.
The activity will also highlight the inauguration of the Regional Haven for Women, a facility located at Barangay Ala-e, Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon that is being managed by DSWD Field Office X.
The center, which provides temporary shelter and protective custody to women 18 years old and above who are victims of involuntary or forced prostitution, illegal recruitment, and abuse, has expanded the rooms, kitchen, and conference rooms in order to accommodate and serve more clients.
Apart from the Regional Haven for Women, other centers and facilities in Region X which have been improved through the CRCF Project are the Home for Girls, a residential institution in Cagayan de Oro City that provides protection, care, treatment and rehabilitation to abused and exploited girls below 18 years old; the Reception and Study Center for Children, also in Cagayan de Oro City, which caters to abandoned, neglected, and/or surrendered children 0 to 6 years old; and the Regional Rehabilitation Center for Youth, a residential facility in Cahulogan, Gingoog City which offers care and rehabilitation to children in conflict with the law. -30-
