Field Offices (FOs) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) continue to coordinate with local government units (LGUs) in observing the situation of families affected by continuing monsoon rains and a new low pressure area (LPA).

As of 5PM of July 12, the Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center (DROMIC) of DSWD has monitored a total of 13,914 displaced families or 70,799 persons of which 138 families or 568 persons are still inside three evacuation centers in Region IV-A.

In accordance to the instructions of DSWD Sec. Judy Taguiwalo, all concerned field offices and disaster teams provided relief augmentation support to the areas hardest by heavy rains.

Relief assistance worth ₱530,671 have been provided to the affected families in Dinalupihan and Hermosa, Bataan and Iba, Zambales in Region III. From the total amount, the DSWD provided ₱433,128.00 worth of relief supplies, while LGUs provided ₱97,543.00 worth of aid.

Sec. Taguiwalo also continues to remind the affected families to report their situation and the assistance that they need.

“Gusto po nating malaman ang sitwasyon ng mamamayan. Magtulungan po tayo na maagap na i-ulat ang sitwasyon ng mga apektado ng sakuna upang maagap na maaksyunan (We want to know your present state. Let us help each other by reporting your current situation so we can easily respond to your needs),” she said.

At present, concerned DSWD field offices continue to provide technical assistance to LGUs in the management of evacuation centers. The Department is also monitoring the weather condition in connection with the spotted low pressure area (LPA) near the PAR. ###
