Relief assistance continues to arrive in quake-affected barangays in Lanao del Sur

Relief assistance continues to pour in Lanao del Sur almost a week after the 6.0-magnitude earthquake that hit the municipality of Wao leaving several damaged houses and infrastructures.

Earlier today, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) organized a mission team under its Disaster Response Assistance and Management Bureau (DREAMB) to fly to Cotabato City via C-130 plane to augment food and non-food items comprised of 30 tents, 200 rolls of laminated sacks, 5,000 packs of high energy biscuits, plastic mats and blankets for families affected by the earthquake and armed conflicts in the region.

The quake-affected families, numbering to 876 or 4,260 persons, were already given assistance amounting to P500,176.40. Assistance worth P252,394.40 was provided by the DSWD, while relief items worth P247,782.00 was supplied by the LGU of Wao.

Meanwhile, the DSWD Central Office is continuously coordinating with its Field Offices (FOs) in regions X, XI and XII for updates on the extent of damage, number of affected families and individuals, and other significant updates related to the disaster. ###
