DSWD personnel prepare to load the donations of UP students for families affected by the Marawi crisis

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) received yesterday the donations of students from the University of the Philippines Diliman and Manila campuses led by Kabataan Party list for families affected by the ongoing armed conflict in Marawi City, Lanao Del Sur.

The donations include bottled water, canned goods, instant noodles, biscuits, and hygiene products.

The Department will deliver the donations to the affected families in Lanao Del Norte and Lanao Del Sur, together with the additional relief assistance it will provide to the evacuees.

DSWD Secretary Judy M. Taguiwalo has earlier said that while the Department is not calling for donations, it will gladly accept all help that will be coursed through the Department for Filipinos affected by the military operations.

She also reminded those who want to help to extend culturally-responsive donations, as most of the affected families are Muslims.

Those who want to help may donate Halal food (beef, chicken, or fish) such as instant noodles in chicken or beef flavors; and canned corned beef and sardines. They are also encouraged to donate hijab, taqiyah, and other Muslim clothing; toiletries; and bottled water.

In-kind donations can be brought to DSWD National Resource Operations Center (NROC) in Chapel Rd, Pasay, Metro Manila, while cashdonations can be deposited to the following:
