Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Officer-In-Charge Emmanuel A. Leyco (right) and Mr. Arthur V. Ty, Metrobank Chairman, distribute gifts to 500 poor families during the kick-off  of the 2018 Bags of Blessings (BOB) Project in Lancaster New City, Cavite  during the Chinese New year on February 16.

The BOB is a yearly project of the Metrobank and GT Foundations in partnership with the DSWD wherein 10,000 “Bags of Blessings” are given to 10,000 poor families nationwide during Chinese New Year. Majority of the beneficiaries are selected from DSWD’s Listahanan, a database of poor families.  Other recipients include victims of calamities, Indigenous Peoples, and those who are not beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program.

In his message, OIC Leyco noted the recognition and prioritization being given by the Department to the vulnerable and marginalized sectors which are continuously deprived of the economic growth being felt by the other sectors of society. He also thanked the Ty family and the Metrobank and GT Foundations for continuously helping the Government in its job to help and serve the people. ###
