DSWD welcomes delegates from the People’s Republic of China for a learning visit
Featured, News August 7, 2019, 0 Comment 0As the lead agency that implements social protection programs for the poor and vulnerable sectors of society, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) welcomed delegates from the People’s Republic of China as they conducted a learning visit on August 7, 2019 at the DSWD Central Office.
The delegates are: Ms. Zhang Guangping, Deputy Director General of the International Poverty Reduction Center in China (IPRCC); Ms. Li Xin, Division Director of the Foreign Affairs Division of IPRCC; Ms. Li Yuanyuan, Deputy Division Director of the Administrative Division, Office of the National Working Committee on Children and Women under the State Council; Ms. Huang Weiru, Division Director of the Social Policy Division of the Department of Social Development, National Development and Reform Commission; Mr. Liu Shuoming, Deputy Division Chief of the Department of Social Assistance, Ministry of Civil Affairs; Ms. Hao Zhirong, Director of the Division of Outreach and Cooperation, China Center for International Knowledge on Development; Ms. Shi Weilin, Social Policy Specialist, UNICEF Office for China; and Ms. Chen Tingting, Child Poverty and Gender Officer, UNICEF Office for China.
The learning visit aimed to provide the delegates an overview of DSWD’s strategies, policies, innovative interventions, and frameworks to address child poverty in the Philippines. It will also showcase DSWD’s Comprehensive Sectoral Plan for Children.
DSWD shared to the delegates some of its key programs, such as the: Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps); Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP); Kapit Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Service (Kalahi-CIDSS); Listahan or the National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction (NHTS-PR); Supplementary Feeding Program (SFP); Recovery and Reintegration Program for Trafficked Persons (RRPTP); Comprehensive Emergency Program for Children (CEPC); and the Strategic Helpdesks for Information, Education, Livelihood and other Developmental Interventions (SHIELD) to help combat child labor in the Philippines.
In the same vein, the delegates from the People’s Republic of China also presented their social protection programs.
With the shared vision of improving the lives of children, especially in the Asian region, DSWD looks forward to more knowledge sharing opportunities with China on intensifying intervention efforts for the best interest of the sector. -30-
